Review: Dominion
I really wanted to like this show. Especially, since my last summer show, Crossbones, turned out to be a such a dud. The problem is, I can’t like this show, it is too flawed, it is too full of logical holes, and WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH ANTHONY STEWART HEADS’S ACCENT?
The show has a ton of flaws that just leave you watching each episode saying, Huh? The show takes place twenty-five years after God quit and some of the angels have spent the last twenty-five years trying to wipe humanity out, thinking that God saw humanity as a failure and quit because he wanted to start over. Here is the first problem the genocidal angels are lead by Gabriel. His army is made up of “lesser angels” who have no form and have to possess human bodies to help kill humanity. The survivors are clustered in a few cities, one of which is Las Vegas, now called Vega. In Vega some sort of heavily caste driven society that has formed in less than 25 years. They live in this walled city, so afraid to leave they don’t even try to revolt against the caste system, yet the leaders feel the people have forgotten what brought them to live there. Huh? The problems, beyond the confusing backstory, is that the society is never well explained or shown. This means we don’t have any idea how people live and how this society works. We just get introduced a some random characters and the plot that seems even sillier on the screen than it does writing it.
And then we have Mr. Head, who other than the killer angel, is the main villain. I cannot even explain the accent he is trying to do. It is just crazy town, but not in a fun or good way but in a what is wrong with that man’s accent sort of way.
There is nothing I can recommend about this show, and even the movie it is based on, Legion, it is not all that great.
