That Which Shiri is Reading: Loki: Agent of Asgard
First of all, how in Hells Bells is it the last third of September? Crazy talk.

Recommended to me by the inimitable @OliviaKelly_ after a New Comics Wednesday title comparison revealed a gap in my pull list. I devoured the first five issue collection Wednesday night, staying up way past my bed time. A bit lighter than the movie villain version (this is, after all, an incarnation of Kid Loki not Loki Loki — though he makes his presence knows as well) but deliciously snarky and, of course, aimin’ to misbehave. Wearing the requisite horns in place of the pretty floral bonnet.
Groovin’ on the All-Mother in charge of Asgard concept. Love the complication of the neighbor/love interest who cannot be lied to. Fantastic balance of fun and “oh shit, here comes Ragnarok.” Slots nicely into the universe (as evidenced by a couple of good scenes with the Avengers) but stands up very well on its own. And repentant Loki repentant but on his own terms, in his very Loki way; well, ya’ll know I love me a morally ambiguous MC and this one and I have some history. Delicious, delicious history…
Issue six comes out next Wednesday, which gives you plenty of time to catch up.
Oh, and there’s a shower scene. Hilariously and fourth-wall breakingly PG. Old ticks but to excellent new use to great comic effect and the comic equivalent of a fantastic first line.
Now, away with you to your local or Comixology. You have reading to do.
