Now Entering Shiri’s Eyeholes: Knight’s Shadow
The second installment of Sebastien de Castell’s Greatcoats series doesn’t come out in the US until June.
I opted not to wait and ordered a copy from the UK because, damn it, I needed this thing in my hands as soon as possible. Also, there was a shop offering signed copies and, seeing as how this gent is a current favorite, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.
You may remember from a long-ago episode of the pod that both Luke and I enjoyed Traitor’s Blade a hell, and I mean a hell, of a lot. I’ve since spread the word to several friends who also liked it a hell of a lot. Well kids, let me tell you, they, and you should you be so inclined as to purchase/borrow Knight’s Shadow, will not be disappointed.
The characters are stronger, the plot is thicker, the peril is greater, and the snark is… snarkier. I’d say “snarkiest” but there’s at least one more coming (and I really hope Mr. de Castell can be prevailed upon to continue past the planned trilogy).
I want to take this book into a sensory deprivation chamber with a single light source and devour it. Then, I want to re-read the first one in the same fashion, and then read this one again.
All this and only 200/600 pages ingested. Imagine the tidal wave of gush that will come with those final words.
