What is on my nightstand this week: Babylon’s Ashes by James S. A. Corey
I finally am getting around to reading Babylon’s Ashes, the latest of the Expanse novels. This one continues the story far beyond what is happening in the world of the TV show, and the books continue to deliver. One can only hope the TV show manages to continue on to where they get to tell all the stories from the books. The Expanse series bridges the gap between hard science fiction and space opera. The books are so compelling, because they are so many great characters who drive the plot. This book even more so, you have the solar system spiraling out of control and all of the leaders of the various factions and the members of the various factions make for a good number of plates both the author and the reader need to keep in flight. Are, even characters we have not seen in a few books, are welcome, as we see how the shifting churn of the solar system changes their lives.
Sounds like there are at least two more books announced, though at the rate this book is going, I don’t know how much of the solar system will still be around for those books.
TL;DR review: Recommended, unless you have not read the rest of the series, then read those first and catch up!
