That Which Shiri is Reading
I am ashamed to admit I have been, of late, a book abandoner. I know, I know. The stocks and twenty lashes. No, no, I don’t think it’s a crime worthy of thirty. Okay, whose blog is this anyway? That’s right. Run!
*Erm*
Truth is, I’ve been having difficulty getting lost in any of the stories I’ve started, due likely to a varity of my own shit rather than any fault of the various authors. Well, okay, in one or two cases it was the author’s fault. How many times do I have to tell you, I’m not naming names? Jeez. And what I need right now is to get lost in another world for a while. It isn’t always my primary goal in choosing a book but at the moment? I’m desperate for it.
Discouraged but not yet Oliver Queen after this week’s episode of Arrow discouraged, I presevere with:
Visible City by Tova Mirvis (2014)
If I stall out there, the order of operations is:
Robot Uprisings edited by Daniel H. Wilson and John Joseph Adams (2014)
and then, on the advice of a guy who knows more about books than anyone else I’ve met, a novel that has been waiting patiently in my non-library to read pile for several months:
redRobe by Jon Courtenay Grimwood (2000)
Feel free to throw other suggestions my way.
Help me, interwebs. You’re my sanity’s only hope.
