What Luke Is Listening To: Rapid Fire Podcasts
I tend to live a very fragmented life, bouncing from place to place, to project to project and long swaths of time are not a luxury I have. This means that I love quick, interesting podcasts that I can consume in one sitting.
These are some of my favorite super-short podcasts:
- Scientific American has a ton of 60-Second podcasts. I love the 60-Second Space, 60-Second Mind and 60-Second Science. There are a bunch more; health, world, etc.; check them out here. Idea food. If you ever have thought of asking a writer where they get their ideas, don’t. This is the type of thing that feeds ideas. Read, listen, research, fill you head with stuff. Now, you have planted and fostered ideas in you own head. One day, a beautiful idea will have grown and will be there when you need it. Trust me. (Really interesting questions are how do you keep track of your ideas, how do you organize your ideas..)
- Writer’s Almanac Garrison Keillor tells us about the events and birthdays for today and reads a poem. Just a great bit of radio distributed as a podcast. Again, great idea food, the lives of some people, and writers especially, are stranger than the fiction they wrote. Find it here.
And the image of the Jawas is in honor of getting my daughter to actually watch Star Wars (and no I am not going to call it ‘A New Hope’, it is Star Wars, it has always been Star Wars and it always will be). Now, after watching it three times this weekend, I have to get her to watch something else.
