Currently Entering Shiri’s Eyeholes Redux
I have no idea where this one is going but I am very, very happy to be along for the ride. For those of you who have never experienced Lukyanenko’s majesty, willing suspension of in process comprehension is a delicious, delicious given.
Also, how can you not want to read a novel with a dedication beginning thusly:
“The author is fully aware that many will deem this novel cynical and immoral…”
The language is a little stiff and it is even more evident in The Genome than it was in the Night Watch series that we ignorant unfortunates reading in translation are missing some damn fine wordplay and a dash of subtlety. Easily surmountable once you catch the rhythm of the narration, dialogue, and story but still *sad trombone.*
I promise you Lukyanenko lost in translation is better than no Lukyaneuno at all. Though I would definitely prefer the full-Lukyanenko-Monty.
*Le sigh* My brain salmon must have gotten lost in the mail again…
