What is on my nightstand: 2016.03.05 edition
Currently reading The Folding Knife on the recommendation of my podcast co-host. Sort of an alternate past sort of story set in a not-Rome sort of world. If the people involved were real people this story has the detail and feel of a historical fiction, and that is a complement. Story has a disjointed flow, sort of scene by scene with long bits of summary in between, but the style works in this case.
Greg Rucka has had a number of successful comics that play off of his love of detective and noir fiction, and this book is no different. Though here, instead of suspense or spy elements, we have a bit of magic. You main character is both a police detective and a witch (a modern, wicca style witch). In the course of the issue we see a witchy way of celebrating the change of the seasons, a hostage situation, and a bit of creepy foreshadowing, Looking forward to more issues of this one.
