Prediction: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Shiri’s Prediction: I got nothin’. Snark-wise I mean. I predict Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will be fantastic. And potentially as, if not more, disturbing than Sin City, but it’s Frank Miler, so… you know; if you don’t know that going in, it’s your own fault. It appears, as was done with installment #1, they’ve cast actors known for more wholesome roles to be the violent psycho/socio/anti-hero – paths which definitely upped the shock factor and was also fucking awesome. The characters returning for seconds all stood out in round one and I’m excited to see them again. Well, mostly. I can take or leave Nancy. The visuals in the trailer are stunning, and the black and white looks and feels integral rather than being a conceit; it serves to make the world that much darker.
Also, Robert Rodriguez.
So, you know. Yes.
I’m there.
Luke’s Late Prediction: I am actually more excited about this one than most of the other movies we have looked at in a long time. The source material is actually weaker, I mean all of the Sin City books were good, but nothing ever compared to how great the first one was. Frank Miller’s art style changed and the stories, though fun, were never as much fun as the first one. This, I think, gives Robert Rodriguez a lot of room to play in. Which, can be a really, really fun thing. So, I am down. And I love the interaction of the stories from the previous series all intersecting. Which means we get more Mickey Rourke as Marv, which is always a good thing.
