What is entering my earholes, travel edition (2015.11.11)
My daughter has not inherited my ability to read in the car. At her age I could read in any type of conditions, including tree lined roads on sunny days where the flashing of moving in and and of the shadows was blinding for some. No, sadly she is left bored or playing with phones or such for longer trips.
So, instead of letting her rot her brain the whole trip, we do audio books. Currently we are working through the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan of Percy Jackson fame. They are amusing enough to keep the adults engaged and pretty well produced. The audiobooks are voiced by two people. One does the POV chapters for Carter Kane, the older brother, and another does the chapters for Sadie Kane, the sister. The best parts are when either of the characters had arguments with the other while they are narrating. The and when they do each other’s voices, they read them in the voice of a sibling making fun of another sibling and how they speak.
We are currently on the second book, Throne of Fire.
